GRM’s Managing Director, Martin Gambling, was delighted with the invitation to present at the NAFEMS European conference on Simulation Based Optimisation.
The event was a real success, bringing together academic research software vendors and customer case studies on the latest developments in optimisation methods.
Martin presented with America’s Cup competitors, INEOS Team UK, on the topic of “Meeting the Composite Design Challenges of the America’s Cup through Structural Optimisation Methods”. To read the presentation – click here
” Optimisation has become a key ingredient in many engineering disciplines and has experienced rapid growth in recent years due to innovations in optimisation algorithms and techniques, coupled with developments in computer hardware and software capabilities. “
Meeting the ambitions of the NAFEMS event, the presentation focussed on the technical background that has been developed over the last 16 years, discussing the application of the methods in Formula 1® using the optimisation code, VR&D GENESIS
The presentation then turned to the more recent developments, incorporating the established composite optimisation methods into the Siemens Simcenter 3D environment. These new tools were then used to great effect in supporting INEOS Team UK in the development of their current AC75 class America’s Cup entrant.
GRM would like to thank NAFEMS for organising such a successful and focussed conference on the topic of optimisation methods. As a developer, provider and user of optimisation methods, GRM are glad to support such an important event.
